To provide a technique by which a face in an image is easily associated with optionally inputted information such as a voice memorandum and text information, at low cost.

In a face area detected from image data, a selected face area is stored in association with an inputted voice memorandum. Association between these pieces of information is carried out by the following procedure. For example, a table, which associates a face information storage address in a non-image part of an image file, a face identification number, and a face area position with a file name of the voice memorandum, is generated. Then, the table and a voice file of the voice memorandum are stored in the non-image part of the image file. Alternatively, another voice file independent of the image file is stored in a storage medium 76. In addition, a face area identification number (face number) is attached to a part of the file name of each of the voice files.
