Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing device capable of updating firmware whenever necessary without stopping operation of an electronic device to which the firmware is embedded, while keeping contents of the firmware secret to a third party.SOLUTION: An information processing device configured to update firmware using a non-volatile semiconductor memory which is divided into a user accessible area and a user inaccessible area, is provided with a reading part accessible to the user inaccessible area as well as two program storage areas composed by non-volatile memories. The information processing device stores at least the updated firmware in the user inaccessible area of the semiconductor memory and writes the updated firmware, which is read by the reading part from the user inaccessible area of the semiconductor memory, in any of the program storage areas to store it.
