PURPOSE: To use effectively an IC memory and to decrease the load for data processing by adding plural terminators to the end of the data when the data are transferred from a host computer to an IC memory.

CONSTITUTION: When the data are transferred from a host computer 10 to an IC card 1, plural terminators are added to the end of the data. Namely, a CR (carriage return) and an LF (line feed) are added. At an interface 20, the data are received and the writing of the data is executed to a card 1 and when a terminator LF is detected, a return action is executed. Consequently, to the memory of the card 1, the data are written successively as the data + CR. When the data of the card 1 are read by the computer 10, a return action is executed by the detection of a terminator CR at an intelligent input output port 11, and the desired data only are fetched. Thus, an IC memory can be used and the load for data processing can be decreased.
