To acquire accurate information on depth both in close and long ranges.
A camera image depth information acquisition part acquires a depth information of each pixel configuring an image captured with a camera as image depth information. A depth mask generation part uses the acquired image depth information to generate a mask for removing a predetermined region from the image. A scene recognition depth information estimation part uses an image in which the predetermined region is removed from the image based on the generated mask as processing object to estimate the depth information of the processing object. A depth information synthesizing part uses the mask to synthesize the acquired image depth information and the estimated depth information. This technology can be applied to an information processing unit that generates the depth information.
