PURPOSE: To confirm the start point of a specified area by displaying the start point in one of two divided screens at all times when the start point of the specified area disappears from a screen by scrolling.

CONSTITUTION: The screen on a display means 103 is scrolled with an indication from an input means 101 and when the start point position of the area stored in a position storage means 105 disappears from the screen on the display means 103, a screen control means 107 divides the screen on the display means 103 into two and controls a display control means 104 so that while the start point position is displayed in one image plane, only the other screen is scrolled. There fore, even when the screen is scrolled after the start point of the area is speci fied, the start point is displayed at all times. Consequently, the start point can be confirmed sufficiently.
