Patent Searching and Data

Title:
INFORMATION PROCESSOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3244203
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To shorten initial access time by starting the recording/reproducing data by self-diagnosing only a part of buffer memory, and self-diagnosing the remaining areas at a background.
CONSTITUTION: An optical disk device 2 records and reproduces various kinds of data outputted from a host computer on an optical disk medium 6 by outputting to an optical disk driving part 5. Furthermore, it is provided with the buffer memory 12 which stores recording data transiently and performs the input/output of it and also, stores driving information required for the driving of the recording medium 6. When the device is started, self-diagnosis is applied to only the position area of the buffer memory 12, and after that, the driving information is stored in an area to which the self-diagnosis is applied, and the recording data is recorded and reproduced by driving the recording medium 6 based on the driving information stored in the buffer memory 12. The remaining areas of the buffer memory 12 is self-diagnosed sequentially by using latency time when the recording data is recorded and reproduced, and the recording data is inputted/outputted via the area of the buffet memory 12 on which the self-diagnosis is completed.
