PURPOSE: To attain the high speed of a recording and erasing operation by conveying a recording medium having the first and second recording areas in a direction vertical to a conveying direction by a conveying means, recording information in the first and second recording areas of the medium, and removing the information previously recorded in the first and second areas by an information processing means.

CONSTITUTION: The information is recorded in the first and second printing areas of a card 2, that is, recording areas 4 and 5, or the information previously recorded in the recording area is removed, by a thermal head 3, in an information processor which print on a season ticket, book of tickets, and stored card. Thus, the half of the axial direction of the top edge part of the head 3 is opposed to the first printing area 4, the residual half is opposed to the second printing area 5, the information is recorded in the area 4, the information previously recorded in the area 5 is removed, at the time of checking tickets, according to the differences of both temperature and energy, and this operation is reversed at the time of collecting tickets. Thus, an automatic checking and collecting machine is equipped with a conveying means 1 and the thermal head 3.
