PURPOSE: To facilitate graphic generating operation by displaying the position of a pen input device on a display device at the tip part of the pen input device in a 1st specific area on the display device, and shifting the position from the tip part of the pen input device by specific length in a specific direction in a 2nd specific area and displaying it.

CONSTITUTION: A screen display control part 112 generates screen contents and a command menu to be displayed by application software for characters, figures, etc. A coordinate conversion part 115 inputs the coordinates of a pen calculated from the input from the pen. When a pen cursor and a pen position are displayed while shifted, on the other hand, the coordinate conversion part 115 takes values ΔX and ΔY, previously set so as to shift the position of the pen and the display position, i.e., pen cursor on the display device 12, out of an error coordinate buffer 116 and newly calculates the coordinates X-ΔX and Y-ΔY of the pen cursor. Then a coordinate switching part 114 transfers the coordinate position of the pen to a pen cursor display control part 113 according to an indication from an area decision part 117.
