This information providing device 20 is provided with GU 130 comprising a display section 3 and a touch panel 4; a key input section 34 which takes in key information operated with the key via the touch panel with a key board 16 displayed on a part of the display section; services sections 27, 28 which obtain information specified by the key information inputted via this key input section from an outside 26 to display the information on the display section; a display monitoring means 31 which detects the input instruction of character data 37 contained in the information displayed on the display section in accordance with the command of the services sections and the input instruction cancellation of the character data; and a key board display control means 32 which displays a key board on the display section when the display monitoring means detects the input instruction of the character data and cancels the display of the key board when the display monitoring means detects the input instruction cancellation of the character data are provided.
