To provide an information providing system in which a processing for confirming the location can be performed between an information terminal and an information center.

The information providing system comprises an information center 1 connected with a computer network 5, means 10 for measuring the current location, and an information terminal 4 capable of accessing the information center 1 wherein the information terminal 4 transmits the information of current location after accessing the information center 1, the information center 1 acquires the information of current location of the user through the computer network 5 and extracts the name of the location from a map data base 2 based on the information of location.
