Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To drastically reduce investment cost corresponding to card infrastructure, and to use an IC card reader, wherein a security function is secured by only a minimum software change, in a card system, corresponding to the infrastructure with a magnetic card as a target.
SOLUTION: This information reader has a reproduction circuit 3 converting a reproducing waveform by a magnetic head 2 into a digital signal; and a transmission/reception circuit 5 receiving data from an IC card. In the information reader, a CPU 6 encrypts the data of the IC card received through the transmission/reception circuit 5, and outputs a waveform by specifications similar to an output signal from the reproduction circuit 3. When a terminal side 10 decides that the data received in an I/F part 11 are data of the magnetic card by an identification signal from the CPU 6, the terminal side 10 does not process anything. When deciding that the data are the data of the IC card, the terminal side 10 decrypts the received data in a data processing part 13.
