A PSI information analyzing unit 5 acquires character information from a prescribed descriptor of PSI information and stores it as a keyword in a memory 6. A video analyzing unit 7 extracts character information in the program information. A chapter setting unit 8 collates the character information extracted from the picture analyzed by the video analyzing unit 7 with keywords registered in the memory 6, generates chapter information when a matching keyword is found, and stores the generated chapter information in a chapter information storage area 3B of the content recording media 3 to effectively use the PSI information.
