PURPOSE: To perform both parallel information recording and series information reproduction by recording at a time pieces of parallel information on recording tracks as many as the pieces of parallel information to be recorded, and successively reproducing the contents of those recording tracks.

CONSTITUTION: The cells of an image sensor 10 are divided into four in a vertical scanning direction. As a result, the image sensor 10 has four image pickup blocks 101W104 which each include 1,000×250 cells. The horizontal scanning of each image pickup block is carried out by a 1,000-bit horizontal address shift register 14, and the vertical scanning is performed by a vertical address shift register 12 of vertical scanning (250×4)-bit constitution. A clock oscillator 30 generates a 10MHz clock signal E30. This clock signal E30 is supplied to a synchronizing signal generator 32 and also inputted to the 1st input terminal of an AND gate 34.
