Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To update the information recorded in an information recording medium at proper timing during background format processing of the information recording medium.
SOLUTION: Upon reception of a data recording request from a host computer after background format processing is started, a controller interrupts the background format processing to record data from the host computer. Then, disk recorded state information is recorded in the FDCB of an optical disk to resume the background format processing.
