PURPOSE: To obtain a retrieval result which conforms with a retrieval request as much as possible when a data base in retrieved by using a retrieval question sentence consisting of fuzzy retrieval conditions.
CONSTITUTION: A sample data taking out part 102 takes specific sample data out of the data base 101. A user evaluation value input part 104 accepts the user's evaluation value of the data. An adaptation arithmetic part 106 finds the adaptation of sample data of a fuzzy proposition in a retrieval question sentence by using a membership function storage part 105. A coupling arithmetic part 107 inputs the adaptation and finds a total evaluation value. An error arithmetic part 108 finds the difference between the total evaluation part and the evaluation value that the user inputs. A partial differential arithmetic part 109 finds a differential value by partially differentiating a membership function with its coefficient. Then a membership function adjustment part 110 adjusts the coefficient of the membership function by using the adaptation, error, and differential value. A retrieval result output part 111 outputs retrieval result data based on the total evaluation value corresponding to the whole retrieval question sentence.
