PURPOSE: To provide the information retrieving device which can efficiently and speedily process local memories respectively provided at plural processor elements and the respective processing elements by effectively utilizing the resources of communication paths or the like for mutually linking them.
CONSTITUTION: The document data of a character string to be the object of retrieval are divided into an arbitrary data amount composed of plural characters, respectively allocated and stored in local memories LM1, LM2... at respective processor elements P1, P2.... Plural patterns for retrieval shifting the characters of the retrieving character string one by one with the same data length as that of those document data are prepared and compared with the document data by the respective processor elements P1, P2.... Then, the respective processor elements P1, P2... are provided with the matching flags of bits as many as the number of patterns for retrieval so as to show the respective compared results, and coincidence is finally detected by repeatedly communicating those contents to the adjacent processor elements P1, P2....
