Abstract:
PURPOSE: To shorten processing time when an error occurs by setting status information on all sectors corresponding to a logical block where the error occurs at first for the respective sectors of a byte different from the information byte of sense data.
CONSTITUTION: When the error occurs while a command accompanied by an information reproduction operation from an information recording medium is executed, an SCSI controller 5 sets sense data in RAM 9 and returns the check condition status of a host computer 12 through an SCSI bus. A logical block address where the error occurs first is set to the information byte in sense data when it is viewed as the command, and status information of all the sectors existing in the track of the information storage medium corresponding to the logical block address where the initial error occurs are set for the respective sectors of the byte different from the information byte of sense data.
