To provide an infrared image heating type heating/quenching/constant- temperature furnace capable of performing temperature control of a sample for heating, quenching and constant-temperature and enabling elaborate observation of its state by using a generally-used observation device.
A furnace comprises an infrared light source 16 within the furnace for condensing infrared light on a sample 17 disposed in the furnace, an introduction port 19 for introducing a cooling gas into the furnace for quenching the sample 17, a temperature detecting means for detecting temperature of the sample 17, and a control means for controlling the sample 17 at a constant temperature. A furnace wall of the furnace is provided with a monitoring window 35 for monitoring the sample 17 and a light transmission window 34 for introducing the light for monitoring the sample 17 in opposing relation and a silica circular cylindrical tube 26 having both ends opened to the respective windows is provided between the windows 34, 35, and the sample 17 is disposed in the cylindrical tube 26. A ventilation hole 28 for introducing the cooling gas in the introduction port into the cylindrical tube 26 for quenching the sample 17 is provided.
