To provide an infrared light detecting element with high rigidity against outer force and with excellent infrared light detecting sensitivity.

At least three beams 2 respectively incorporating means for detecting the temperature of an infrared light absorber 3 absorbing infrared light are made to abut onto at least one warm spot connection 5, on the infrared light absorber 3 respectively from at least three cold point connections 4 of a substrate 1. Then the infrared light absorber 3 is supported by separation from the substrate 1. Besides, the respective cold point connections 4 are not arranged along one line on the substrate 1, and also the beams 2 are diagonally erected from the substrate 1 by predetermined inclination angle. It is also adequate that the cold point connections 4 are arranged at the vertexes of a regular polygon on the substrate 1, and the vertexes of the regular polygonal pyramid are formed with the use of the cold point connections 4 and an intersection point where the respective axial lines of the beams 2 are crossed at one point of the warm point connection 5 or at one extension point after passing the warm point connection 5. It is also adequate that the center of gravity of the vertexes of the regular polygon, where the cold point connections 4 are arranged, is made to coincide with the center of gravity of the substrate 1.
