Title:
INFRARED UPPER VISIBLE WAVELENGTH CONVERTING MATERIAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3450031
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To attain practical converting efficiency and sensitivity to infrared ray of 1.3μm band of optical communication band by incorporating at least dysprosium (Dy) or its salt.
CONSTITUTION: The material contains at least Dy and its salt or Dy and erbium (Er) or these salts as additives act as the center of adsorption and emission and contains at least Ba and Cl or Ba compound or Cl compound which does not contain oxygen and fluorine as a base material capable of stably fetching them. In this case, Ca, Sr, Y, La, Gd, Lu, Pb, Ti, Bi, K, Na or the like is used in place of Ba. As a result, the material having excellent sensitivity to the infrared ray of optical wavelength of 1.3μm band, to which the conventional material does not show practical sensitivity without previous exitation, and free from the change of visual light emission intensity at the time of continuously irradiating with infrared ray. The extremely useful element capable of visually detecting infrared ray is obtained.
