Title:
INFUSION SYSTEM, METHODOLOGY, AND ALGORITHM FOR IDENTIFYING PATIENT-INDUCED PRESSURE ARTIFACTS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2003038642
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To solve problems of adverse effect on morale and increased stress on a responding person, the waste of time, the excess of expenditure, efforts and patient involvement, or the like, by detecting pressure artifacts to be the cause of generating an erroneous alarm condition or hiding a correct alarm condition in an infusion system to infuse a fluid into the patient.

The infusion system is provided for examining a waveform for a pressure artifact characteristic by patient activity which gives serious influence on alarm reliability. When the system detects the occurrence of an artifact which exceeds a predefined level of departure from a nominal system operation, the system recognizes it as a patient-induced and sufficient cause to prolong, ignor or rerum a site check.
