Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ingot-making method for obtaining the cast ingot without developing macro-segregation and porous shrinkage cavity.
SOLUTION: This ingot-making method is performed by which the cast ingot 1 having molten metal 4 in the inner part is taken out from a mold and successively, the press-reduction is applied to a part of the side surfaces mutually faced in the cast ingot having the molten metal from the inner part to the upper end part till press-sticking the solidified shells in both sides in the inner part of the cast ingot at the press-reduction position. This method is suitable to be applied to the ingot-making of particularly an alloy steel, stainless steel, Ni-base supper alloy, etc.
