NEW MATERIAL:A 1,4-benzoquinone derivative shown by the formula I [R1WR4 are lower alkyl; A is lower alkylene, or -B-Y-D-(B and D are lower alkylene; Y is O, S, or S-S)].
EXAMPLE: 2,2'-Methylenebis(3,6-dimethoxy-para-benzoquinone).
USE: Useful as an inhibitor against arachidonic acid 5-lipoxygenase, antasthamtic, carcinostatic agent, activator for tissue metabolism, hypotensor, remedy for cardiac incompetence, improver for cerebral circulation, analgesic, antitumor agent, diuretic, immunomodulator, antithrombotic agent, and microbism prevention promoter.
PREPARATION: For example, a compound shown by the formula II is dissolved in an inert solvent such as an ether, alcohol, etc. and reacted in the presence of a catalyst and an oxidizing agent at room temperature for 2W6hr, to give a compound shown by the formula I.
