To provide an inhibitor for the dusting of steel making slag capable of suppressing the dusting of the steel making slag by a small boron amount and also reducing a boron elution amount from a cooled steel making slag and to provide a method for suppressing the dusting.
The dusting at a cooling process of the steel making slag is suppressed and the elution of the boron is reduced by adding an agent expressed by MgO-mB2O3-nH2O (m>0, n≥0), for example, MgO-1.4B2O3-3.5H2O in the steel making slag in a molten state. A multiple oxide of magnesium and the boron obtained from a composite material of magnesium hydroxide and boron by charging a magnesium alloy and magnesium salts in the waste liquid containing boron is also used as the inhibitor for the dusting of the steel making slag.
