Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a colorant desirable for thermal transfer and to provide a thermal transfer sheet containing this colorant.
CONSTITUTION: An imidazole azo colorant represented by the formula wherein X is hydrogen, methyl or acylamino; Y is hydrogen or lower alkoxyl; and R1 to R3 are each hydrogen, or alkyl, cycloalkyl or allyl each of which may be substituted and a thermal transfer sheet having a colorant layer containing this colorant are provided.
