Abstract:

To provide an injection failure determination device for an internal combustion engine which can determine the presence/absence of an injection failure due to expansion of an injection hole, in a form including at least possibility of an injection failure due to the expansion of the injection hole.

An ECU is used along with an internal combustion engine 50 having a fuel injection device 1 including: a supply pump 3 for pumping fuel; a common rail 4 for pressurizing and storing the fuel pumped from the supply pump 3; a fuel injection valve 7, to which fuel is supplied from the common rail 4 and which injects the fuel into a cylinder via an injection hole 71d; and a fuel pressure sensor 9 for detecting a fuel pressure dropping in accordance with the fuel injection of the fuel injection valve 7. The ECU 10 determines the existence/absence of injection failure in the injection hole 71d as time passes, depending on a fuel injection ratio dQ which changes according to the fuel injection of the fuel injection valve 7.
