Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To overcome a problem that a polypropylene resin does not reach to mass applications because a carbon fiber is expensive and adhesiveness with nonpolar polypropylene is bad even though the polypropylene resin is light weight with specific gravity of 0.90 and excellent in molding processability, is expected to be more high strengthened by a carbon fiber reinforcement as well as weight saving and recyclability thereof and applications as ocean civil engineering materials, high-rise building materials, railway vehicle materials automobile materials and other advanced materials are expected to be expanded by making use of corrosion resistance compared to iron or concrete.SOLUTION: A polypropylene resin is modified at high speed with a maleic acid compound and organic peroxide by a reaction extrusion method and mixed with an inexpensive carbon fiber chip largely produced by a large tow method in another hand. In the case, an extruder remaining a half of fiber length is used and an injection molded body is produced directly without through pelletizing from both raw materials. Cost down by high speed molding and improvement of physical properties by residual long fiber are achieved.SELECTED DRAWING: None
