To provide an ink composition for ink-jet which does not give an disturbed print because of high jet stability, can give an image having excellent hue, light resistance and water resistance, can give a blur-free slender line, is excellent in image preservation such as light fastness and dark heat preservation, can keep high jet stability even if it gets aged after a long shelf life or under a severe condition, and has an advantage to give faultless hue, light resistance, water resistance and image quality.

The ink composition for ink-jet comprises a specified water-soluble dyestuff, wherein the composition contains a specified ultraviolet ray absorbing agent or a specified compound. The method for ink-jet recording uses the composition.
