PURPOSE: To prevent ink of a ink jet print head from drying out by filling a filler forming a continuous sealing surface together with the front of a ink manifold surrounding the print head assembly in its gap and the front of a board, between each flange and board.
CONSTITUTION: A print head 10 comprises a print head assembly 12, an ink manifold 16, and a heat sink board 14, and is provided with a continuous sealing surface 36, which surrounds the print head assembly 12, composed of the ink manifold 16, the heat sink board 14, and a filler 14 formed between them. The filler 34 acts as caulking to eliminate gaps around the print head assembly 12, particularly between the ink manifold 16 and the heat sink substrate 14, and to provide a smooth surface for abutment with a capping member. This prevents the drying out of ink in a nozzle 24 through evaporation of volatile ink components.
