Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printer and its printing method which enable printing over edges of a recording medium, for example, a tape without leaving the edges of the recording medium unprinted and clear.
SOLUTION: In the printing method of the ink jet printer which prints by an ink jet system by a printing head which moves back and forth in a direction orthogonal to a transfer direction of the recording medium T to the recording medium transferred solely in one direction, the printing head is moved relatively to the recording medium T to start printing before a leading end of the transferred recording medium T reaches a printing position by the printing head. The printing is carried out to print over the entire face of the recording medium T up to positions which deviate to the outer side than the edges in the transfer direction and the orthogonal direction to the transfer direction of the recording medium T.
