Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printer which can alleviate reduction in the printing quality.SOLUTION: An ink jet printer 1 includes: an ink jet head 41 which performs printing by discharging ink to a printing medium while moving along the main-scanning direction; a medium height sensor 27 which measures the height fluctuation of the surface of the printing medium along the main-scanning direction; a head lifting drive part 24 which adjusts a head gap; and a control part 5 which converts the data indicating the height fluctuation of the surface of the printing medium in the main-scanning direction obtained by the medium height sensor 27 in the printing object region by the ink jet head 41 and adjusts the head gap by the head lifting drive part 24 during movement of the ink jet head 41 along the main-scanning direction at the time of printing operation on the basis of the periodic function with wavelength and amplitude equal to or greater than the threshold thereof.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
