Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printer having a simple structure and high reliability and capable of expressing an intermediate tone by allowing the printer to have an ejection amount control function for changing the ejection amount of ink.
SOLUTION: This ink jet printer is provided with an ink supply unit 8 which has a head part composed of an ejecting nozzle 1, an ejection drive means 6, an ink liquid chamber 4 and a liquid inflow port, and which supplies ink to the head part, and an ejection control unit 9 for operating the ejection drive means 6. In this ink jet printer, a liquid outflow port and an outflow means 2 for controlling an ink stream flowing out of the liquid outflow port are provided, whereby it is so designed that jet energy in a jet initial state can be kept at a constant level and that the jet stability of ink jet can be secured even in the case where the size of droplets of ink jet is changed. Further, a liquid, inflow port is optionally allowed to function as the liquid outflow port by providing the outflow control means 2 in the liquid inflow port. Furthermore, in a multihead constitution (not illustrated) having a plurality of head parts, an ejection drive means may be formed integrally therewith.
