Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink jet printer in which a maintenance means is provided in the scanning region of a carriage at the time of printing without providing a dedicated driving means (e.g. a drive motor).
SOLUTION: A drive motor for carrying a recording medium performs first driving for carrying the recording medium and second driving not carrying the recording medium. Since a maintenance means 1 for recovering the ink ejection opening 3 moves to recede from an ink carriage 2 at the time of first driving and moves to abut against the ink carriage at the time of second driving, a dedicated driving means for moving that maintenance means 1 is not required and the maintenance means 1 can be provided in the scanning region of the ink carriage 2 at the time of printing.
