To provide an ink-jet recording apparatus which can highly accurately land ink drops to a landing estimated position on a recording medium even when a distance between a recording head and the recording medium is changed.
The apparatus has an interval-adjusting means for adjusting an interval between a surface of the recording medium and a recording head 101 opposite to the surface and a discharging control means 51 for controlling an ink drop discharge operation timing of the recording head 101 in accordance with the interval between the surface of the recording medium 1 and the recording head 101 set by the interval-adjusting means. The discharging control means 51 sets ink drop discharge positions f1, f2, r1 and r2 by the recording head 101 before an ink drop landing estimated position P on the recording medium surface and controls the discharge operation timing of the recording head 101 so that a distance between the ink drop discharge position and the ink drop landing estimated position increases/decreases in accordance with an increase/ decrease of the interval of the recording head 101 and the recording medium surface.
