Abstract:

PURPOSE: To detect mounting of a cartridge by providing a flag member, mounted on the cartridge and protruded toward a passage through which a carriage is moved only when the cartridge is mounted on a mounting part, and a photo sensor mounted on the carriage and light from which can be shielded by the flag member.

CONSTITUTION: When an ink cartridge 101 is inserted along an insertion passage 26, a shutter 102 is collided with a stopper part 22A and opened. When the ink cartridge 101 is brought into a completely mounted state, the shutter 102 is fully opened, a flag member 104 is raised through the force of a spring 106 and collided with the stopper part 22A to shield the photo pass of a detecting sensor 124. In removal of the ink cartridge 101, the flag member 104 is pressed by the stopper part 102A through operation, by which the cartridge 101 is pulled out rightward, and is rotated counterclockwise. The shutter 102 is moved in a direction, in which an opening part 101A is closed, through the force of a spring 103, and the flag member 104 is contained in a position below the shutter 102. This constitution enables information on the ink cartridge to be fed to a user through simple constitution.
