PURPOSE: To provide a device, with which correct capping is performed to the recording head of an ink jet recording device.

CONSTITUTION: A head carriage 1 employs its vertically slidable stationary sliding shafts 3a and 3b commonly as the setting standard of the mounting position of a recovering system unit, resulting in correctly holding the relative position between the head 2 on the head carriage 1 and the head cap 6 on the recovering system unit 5 so as to realize correct capping of the head 2 with the head cap 6.
