To eject small ink drops without using a nozzle and to perform gradation recording by controlling a size of the fly-ejected ink drop without using a complex driving circuit.
This recording head comprises a vibration generating means 2 that vibrates in accordance with an image signal and an elastic member 1 that is vibrated in response to the excitation of the vibration generating means 2. A position of a tip 4 of the elastic member 1 is in conformity with a surface of the ink 3. Ink 9 is fly-ejected from the surface of the ink 3 by virtue of the vibration of the elastic member 1 to be stuck to a recording medium. The image signal to be inputted to the vibration generating means 2 is a burst wave and it is preferable to change the number of the waves forming the burst wave corresponding to the degree of the gradation of the image signal. A diameter of the fly-ejected ink drop 9 can be varied in accordance with the number of waves, thereby achieving the gradation representation.
