PURPOSE: To provide an ink jet recording head capable of being constituted compactly and easy to manufacture, by forming a plurality of rows of ink cavity grooves in the piezoelectric plate of a piezoelectric material and bonding a cover plate to the piezoelectric plate to constitute a plurality of rows of ink cavities along with the ink cavity grooves.
CONSTITUTION: Ink cavity grooves 12, ink supply channel grooves 22 and ink nozzle grooves 24 are formed on a piezoelectric plate 10 in a plurality of rows so as to be communicated with each other and a cover plate 26 is bonded to the surface of the piezoelectric plate 10. When voltage is applied between electrodes 28, 29 the piezoelectric body between both electrodes expands to reduce the volume in an ink cavity 12A and, as a result, the ink in the ink cavity 12A is injected from an ink nozzle 24A in a liquid droplet form to be brought onto a recording carrier. At this time, because the volumetric conraction of the ink cavity 12A is mainly brought about by the expanded part 20 of the piezoelectric body, the volumetric contraction motion of the ink cavity 12A will not exert effect on the adjacent ink cavity 12A.
