To provide an ink jet recording sheet which has excellent ink absorbability, high printing density and no bleeding and which can print an image of a high quality level.
The ink jet recording sheet comprises a laminated film having a surface film on at least one surface of a base film, and an ink accepting layer formed on the surface film of the laminated film. The base film contains a thermoplastic resin and an inorganic pigment, and is a porous stretched film having voids formed by stretching. The surface film contains 50 to 80 mass% of a thermoplastic resin and 20 to 50 mass% of an unshaped synthetic silica and is a porous stretched film having voids formed by stretching. The laminated film is a film obtained by laminating the base film and the surface film by co-extruding or sequentially extruding. The ink containing layer contains the amorphous synthetic silica and the water insoluble resin.
