To provide an ink waste liquid absorber which is free from degradation of ink waste liquid absorbability with time, and excellent in ink waste liquid absorbability and stability with time.

The ink waste liquid absorber comprises soft polyurethane foam carrying silica gel. The ink waste liquid absorbability of the soft polyurethane foam is enhanced by making the soft polyurerthane foam carry silica gel because of the excellently hydrophilic silica gel. Silica gel hardly solves out into a solvent and hardly flows out from the soft polyurethane foam because silica gel has a very low solubility into a general ink solvent.
