A light quantity control section 28 controls the light quantity of UV lamps 21, 22, 23, 24 based on the element of the recording material and the element of the image recording conditions, that is, the light quantity of the UV lamps 21, 22, 23, 24 is determined according to the material of the recording material itself, the thickness of the recording material, the quantity of ink ejected to the recording material in an image recording time, the moving speed of a recording head in a main scanning direction in the image recording time, and an element that is either a unidirectional printing mode of recording an image only when the recording head moves in one direction or a bidirectional printing mode of recording images when moving in both directions in the image recording time.
