Abstract:
A printer including: (i) a guide device (43, 44) extending in a first direction; (ii) a carriage (38) reciprocateable in the first direction, while being guided by the guide device (43, 44); (iii) a recording head (39) carried by the carriage (38); (iv) a feed device (25, 26, 27, 60, 61, 71) for feeding the recording medium in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction; (v) a flexible ink-supply tube (41) for supplying ink to the recording head; and (vi) a carriage movement detector (77) including an encoder strip (50) which extends in the first direction. The ink-supply tube has a U-shaped body including a pair of arm portions (102, 103) extending in the first direction and spaced apart from each other in the second direction. The guide device (43, 44), the ink-supply tube (41) and the encoder strip (50) are located on respective different positions in a third direction that is perpendicular to the first and second directions. The ink-supply tube (41) has a part that overlaps with the guide device (43, 44) and the encoder strip (50) as seen in the third direction.
