Abstract:
To provide an encoder seat which can move a carriage from outside a working range to within the working range, and an ink jet recording device.SOLUTION: An ink jet recording device comprises a recording head, a carriage, an encoder seat 74, a first sensor, and a control part. The carriage moves the recording head in a main scan direction. The encoder seat is located along the main scan direction. The first sensor detects a position of the carriage in the main scan direction by use of the encoder seat. The control part controls movement of the carriage on the basis of a detection result of the first sensor. In the encoder seat, a first area AR11 of a first color and a second area AR12 of a second color are alternately formed within the working range of the carriage. In the encoder seat, a third area AR21 of the frist color is formed on one side outside the working range of the carriage, and a fourth area AR22 of the second color is formed on the other side.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
