To provide an inkjet recording method which can surely detect dot blanks of a clear ink in the case of recording overlapping an image formation ink and the clear ink on a recording medium, and to provide an inkjet recording device capable of surely reproducing images.

The inkjet recording method has a dot blank detection process in which the presence/absence of dot blanks of the clear ink is detected by measuring a diameter of a mixed dot of the overlapping image formation ink and clear ink. The inkjet recording device 5 is equipped with a dot diameter measuring means capable of measuring a diameter of a mixed dot, a detecting means capable of detecting the presence/absence of dot blanks of the clear ink according to the diameter of the mixed dot, a cleaning mechanism capable of cleaning a recording head 56, and a control means capable of selecting either one of "inkjet recording by the recording head 56" and "cleaning by the cleaning mechanism to the recording head 56" according to the detected result of the detecting means.
