PURPOSE: To facilitate centering owing to the change in the size of billets by providing a hollow cylindrical inlet guide enough to cover roughly the length of the billets on the inlet side of rolling mills and an easy down mechanism which receives the billets fed in a transverse direction and transfers the same to receiving rolls on the inlet side of the inlet guide.

CONSTITUTION: An inlet guide 51 of a hollow cylindrical shape enough to cover roughly the length of a billet B is provided on the inlet side of rolling mills, and an easy down mechanism 53 is provided on the inlet side of the guide 51. The billet B centered to the end part by a centering device 1 is fed to a tilting table 4 by a conveyor 3, and descends while rotating. The descending billet B is received by the mechanism 53 in the end part of the table 4. The mechanism 53 is turned clockwise by a hydraulic device and transfers the billet B onto receiving rolls 52.
