To obtain an inorganic building material having high strength, excellent water resistance, heat resistance and incombustibility, by reinforcing an inorganic material with an inorganic fiber.
A metal primary phosphate constituting an inorganic matrix and its hardening agent are mixed with a filler and a reinforcing inorganic fiber, molded into a fixed shape and hardened under heating to give an inorganic building material. Raw materials are mixed so that the inorganic building material in the final state of product comprises 20-50 wt.% of the inorganic matrix, 20-60 wt.% of the filler and 10-50 wt.% of the reinforcing inorganic fiber. Preferably the hardening agent of the metal primary phosphate is at least one selected from a metal hydroxide, a metal oxide and a metal carbonate.
