Abstract:

To provide low density paper which is lightweight, can thereby efficiently uses paper-making pulp to reduce the use of forest resources, and can especially be used as building material paper whose lightening is desired.

This low density paper is characterized by comprising 50 to 90 mass% of organic fibers consisting mainly of cellulosic fibers and 10 to 50 mass% of attapulgite, and having a density of 0.3 to 0.5 g/cm3. If necessary, the organic fibers may together be used with inorganic fibers. Inorganic powder may furthermore be contained in an amount of 5 to 40 mass%.
