PURPOSE: To efficiently perform data input by using facsimile and to surely and easily recognize the status of job processing for reception data.

CONSTITUTION: This method is equipped with a facsimile reception part 1 which receives image data by a facsimile signal, a character recognition part 8 which performs character recognition processing setting received data as a target, an interaction correction part 9 which performs correction processing in an interactive format setting the character data of a recognition result as the target, and a data managing part 7 which performs the data base management of processing data. The data managing part 7 registers the image data received by the facsimile reception part 1 on a data base 5, and also, generates managing information 6 representing the progressive stage of processing for the image data, and here after, the character recognition processing by the character recognition part 8 or the correction processing by the interaction correction part 9, etc., is executed based on the managing information, and a processing result is affected on the managing information 6.
