PURPOSE: To make it possible to use an input device for inputting displacement data expressing the amount and direction of the movement of a cursor to a computer even in narrow space and to easily carry the input device.
CONSTITUTION: The input device 1 is provided with a pressure sensitive pad PAD constituted of arranging a conductive layer 9 formed on the lower face of a flexible sheet 7 and a resistor layer 11 formed on the upper face of a substrate 13 at a prescribed interval and allowing the layer 9 to come into contact with the layer 11 on a depressed position at the time of depressing the sheet 7 and a control part 17 connecting a wiring CL from the layer 9 and wirings LL, UL, LR, UR from four corners of the layer 11 to its terminals, and at the time of detecting contact between both the layers 9, 11, applying 5V voltage alternately in the horizontal and vertical direction of the surface of the layer 11, successively operating the depressed position of the pad PAD from a voltage value generated on the layer 9 at the time of impressing each voltage, calculating a movement count value expressing the moving distance and direction of the depressed position in each unit time based upon the operated result, and outputting the count value to the computer.
