To provide an input device which is easy to operate as an input device for numbers and characters of mobile equipment, and allows a user to speedily select and determine Chinese input characters.

The input device includes a dictionary storage part 13 which stores word data of words consisting of combinations of characters in a consonant group and characters in a vowel group; a touch panel type input display part 11 which displays keys, to each of which a plurality of characters are allocated, by discriminating the consonant group from the vowel group for an array, and inputs character data of a character allocated to selected one of keys once the key is selected; and a control part 12 which performs retrieval from the dictionary storage part 13 when character data is input from a key of the consonant group and character data is input from the vowel group, and acquires and inputs word data corresponding to a combination of the input character data of the consonant group and the input character data of the vowel group.
